Due to their nocturnal lifestyle, silverfish may not be visible during the day. They are not biting, nor do they carry any disease. They consume books, cardboard boxes, wallpaper, and can even get into food and clothing, which makes them more of a "nuisance" bug. They search for places with a lot of moisture, such as bathrooms or places where there may be leakage from pipes. When you turn on the light, you might notice them under a pile of damp laundry or in the sink area. Spiders

As carnivorous insects, centipedes and spiders consume other insects as food. For instance, large enough spiders will catch and consume roaches, ants, fleas, silverfish, and other insects. Though there are many more species of spiders than there are in our area, the ones we see are safe. Spider bites can cause redness, pain, and swelling, or you may not notice them at all in the rare event that one is threatened. Redness, pain, and swelling are common symptoms of many other bug bites and skin sores, so it's hard to know for sure that a spider bit you unless you saw it. There are very few spider species with long enough fangs to pierce human skin and potent enough venom to harm humans, and these species are not common in our region. We find them more of a bother but we can take care of that for you as well. We can treat the outside of your house in late spring or early summer to keep spiders and a few other insects under control for the duration of the warmer months.
